Personal situation
She was born in Vršac in 1858. Her brother was Jaša Tomić, a politician and statesman. She finished elementary and girls' school in Vršac, and then continued her education in Timișoara and Vienna, where she taught German language and literature. In 1882, she moved with her family to Belgrade, where she worked as a pedagogue. Later she joined Katarina Milovuk's school, which will later become the Senior Women's School in Belgrade. In 1904, she moved to Thessaloniki to live, where she will stay until 1907. She married professor Jaša Janić, who worked at the gymnasium, and she also went to work in the gymnasium. They had three children: Jaša, Svetozar and Sloboda. She died in 1946 in Belgrade and was buried at the New Cemetery.
